The Voting Youth-Or Lack There of...

The nitty gritty: The youth is called upon by their "heroes" to vote in the upcoming election. The problem is that the youth DOESN'T vote either way and I knew this to be fact but i did not realize the magnitude of this truth.
It is reported that 17 MILLION eligible voters between the ages of 18 and 25 did not vote at all in one election. Those numbers are outrageous! I personally think that these young adults should start caring more about the world around them rather than who is going home on road rules or whatever the hell it's called. I don't think that they understand how much their vote DOES count. In that one election where the 17 million didn't vote, the Florida "winning" vote was only 1,000 away from the losing candidate's.
Another thing is that a vast majority of the votes thats young adults put in are largely influenced by their peers. I find this appualing that the youths of today have no opinion of their own.
Basically what I am trying to get across is that when I am old enough to vote I will really weigh the pros and cons of the candidates running ans will choose who I think is the best choice to run this country. I wont just PICK one just to say i voted and I wont let others poorly-put-together opinions influence my ultimate decision.
